Overview
Funded by the Flemish government and coordinated by VLIR-UOS, this programme awards master's scholarships to students from around 30 developing countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America to study at Flemish universities. It covers tuition, travel, insurance, and living costs for the full duration of an eligible master's programme.
Funding
Full tuition, a monthly living allowance (approx. €1,400/month), travel, and insurance for the full programme duration (12/24/36 months)
Eligibility
- National and resident of one of the eligible partner countries
- Maximum age of 35 at the time of application
- Admitted to an eligible master's programme at a participating Flemish institution
- Relevant prior degree and, often, professional experience in a development-related field
- Apply directly through the participating Flemish university's application system
Application Deadline
Varies by programme, generally within a window from January to late February each year (e.g., online applications around 18 January, full files due around 1 April in some tracks) Always confirm exact dates on the official site before planning your application, since deadlines shift year to year.
How to Apply
- Browse VLIR-UOS's list of eligible ICP Connect Bachelor's/Master's programmes at Flemish universities
- Apply to your chosen host university, clearly indicating you are also applying for the VLIR-UOS scholarship
- Submit transcripts, CV, motivation letter, and other required documents to both the university and VLIR-UOS as instructed
- Confirm you meet the age limits (35 for Bachelor's/initial Master's, 45 for advanced Master's) and have not previously held a Belgian government scholarship
- Await the joint admission/scholarship decision
