Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program

Overview

A Fulbright exchange for accomplished mid-career professionals rather than degree-seekers. Fellows spend 10 months at a U.S. host university doing non-degree graduate study and professional development in fields like public policy, education, or public health. It is funded by the State Department and administered by IIE.

Funding

Fully funded, non-degree year in the U.S.: tuition/fees, monthly stipend, health insurance, a professional development allowance, and round-trip travel

Eligibility

• Mid-career professionals (typically 5+ years of experience) from designated countries
• Demonstrated leadership and commitment to public service
• A relevant undergraduate degree
• Strong English proficiency
• Nominated/selected through the Fulbright Commission or U.S. Embassy in the applicant's country

Application Deadline

Deadlines are set by the local U.S. Embassy or Fulbright Commission and generally fall between late June and mid-August each year for a fellowship year beginning the following August Always confirm exact dates on the official site before planning your application, since deadlines shift year to year.

2. Create an account and apply online at apply.iie.org/huberthhumphrey
3. Submit CV, essays on leadership and professional goals, and letters of recommendation
4. Complete an English-language assessment if shortlisted
5. Interview with the embassy/commission selection committee
6. Await final Washington D.C. panel review and placement at a U.S. host university
