Chevening Scholarships

Overview

The UK government's global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. It fully funds one-year master's study at any UK university, plus a monthly stipend, travel costs, and a visa application fee, for future leaders and influencers from eligible countries. Chevening has funded over 60,000 scholars since 1983.

Funding

Full tuition fees, monthly living stipend, return economy flights, an arrival and departure allowance, one visa application fee, and a travel grant for Chevening events

Eligibility

• Citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory
• Return to your home country for at least two years after the award
• At least two years of work experience
• An offer (or application in progress) for a full-time master's course at a UK university
• Meet Chevening's English language requirement

How to Apply

1. Register and complete the online application on the Chevening portal, including four scored essays
2. Apply separately and receive unconditional offers from up to three eligible UK university courses
3. Reading committees at British Embassies/High Commissions score applications
4. Shortlisted candidates are invited to an in-person or virtual interview
5. Accept the award and secure UK university and visa arrangements if selected
