Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS)

Overview

The Malaysia International Scholarship, run by the Ministry of Higher Education, is aimed at attracting outstanding international graduates to pursue master's and PhD study at Malaysian universities. It supports Malaysia's ambition to become a regional education hub and typically covers tuition and related study costs for high-achieving postgraduate applicants.

Funding

Tuition fee coverage and a monthly living allowance of around RM1,500

Eligibility

• Open to international students (non-Malaysian citizens)
• For postgraduate study only (Master's or PhD)
• Applicant must not be older than 45 at time of application
• Minimum Second Class Upper/CGPA 3.5 (out of 4.0) at Bachelor's level for Master's applicants
• English proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS) and an admission offer from a Malaysian university required

How to Apply

1. Register an account on the official MIS application portal (biasiswa.mohe.gov.my/INTER)
2. Fill in the required personal, academic, and programme information in the online form
3. Upload required supporting documents in PDF format (passport, transcripts, English proficiency proof, recommendation letters, admission letter if available, CV, and research proposal for research candidates)
4. Review the completed application carefully and submit before the deadline
5. Track application status online and respond to any additional information requests
