MAEC-AECID Scholarships

Overview

An umbrella of scholarship programmes run by Spain's Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Each year AECID opens several distinct calls (covering master's study, diplomatic training, cultural/artistic residencies, and more) aimed mainly at applicants from Latin America, Africa, and Asia, with benefits including a living allowance, tuition support, and travel/insurance costs.

Funding

Monthly allowance (approx. €1,900/month for many programmes) plus health insurance in Spain; some tracks include travel support

Eligibility

• Citizen of a country covered by the specific programme's call (varies by track)
• Not a Spanish national or permanent resident
• Meet the academic/professional requirements of the chosen programme (e.g., public-sector experience for the Diplomatic School track)

Application Deadline

Most 'Máster' calls open in the first quarter of the year with an application window roughly from February to April Always confirm exact dates on the official site before planning your application, since deadlines shift year to year.

How to Apply

1. Confirm your country is included in the current year's AECID call and review eligibility
2. Register an account on the AECID electronic office (sede electrónica)
3. Complete the online application form and upload academic records, motivation letter, CV, and language certificates
4. Submit before the annual deadline specified in that year's call (convocatoria)
5. Await AECID's evaluation and award notification
