Overview

King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) is a graduate-only research university that automatically funds every admitted Master's and PhD student, regardless of nationality, with no separate scholarship application required. Funding covers full tuition, a monthly living allowance, on-campus housing, and health coverage for the duration of study.

Full tuition, an annual living allowance of up to USD $30,000, on-campus housing, health and dental coverage, and relocation support - awarded automatically to all admitted students

Eligibility

• Open to all nationalities applying for KAUST's Master's or PhD programs
• Bachelor's degree (for Master's) or Master's/strong Bachelor's (for PhD) in a relevant STEM field
• Strong academic record and, often, research experience or publications
• English proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS) required for admission
• Funding is automatic upon admission — no separate scholarship application

Application Deadline

Applications open around mid-August; the deadline falls around 1 October for Spring admission and around early May for Fall admission (exact dates shift slightly each cycle). Always confirm exact dates on the official site before planning your application, since deadlines shift year to year.

How to Apply

1. Apply for admission via the KAUST online admissions portal (admissions.kaust.edu.sa)
2. Submit transcripts, standardized test scores (if applicable), letters of recommendation, and a CV/statement of purpose
3. Meet the English proficiency requirement (TOEFL 81 iBT or IELTS 6.5, waived for degrees from certain English-speaking countries)
4. Attend an interview if shortlisted
5. If admitted, receive automatic KAUST Fellowship funding - no separate scholarship application is required
