AMEXCID Excellence Scholarships for Foreigners

Overview

The Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID), part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, offers scholarships for foreign citizens to pursue specializations, master's, doctoral study or academic mobility at more than 70 participating Mexican institutions. Awards are available to applicants from over 180 countries through bilateral agreements and generally cover tuition, a monthly stipend and medical insurance.

Funding

Tuition fees, a monthly stipend (approx. MXN 13,757/month at Master's level in recent years, from which the student covers housing), medical insurance, and an economy-class round-trip flight (paid upon successful completion)

Eligibility

• Nationality of one of AMEXCID's partner/eligible countries
• Admission to a program registered as a National Quality Graduate Program (or equivalent undergraduate mobility route)
• Relevant prior academic qualification for the level applied to
• Spanish language proficiency generally expected (English-taught options are more limited)
• Apply through the AMEXCID scholarship call published annually on the official government portal

How to Apply

1. Check the current AMEXCID call (convocatoria) for your country of origin, published via your local Mexican embassy or AMEXCID's website
2. Obtain a letter of acceptance/pre-acceptance from a Mexican higher education institution (needed within about 60 days of application)
3. Complete the online application with transcripts (minimum GPA 85/100 or 8.5/10) and required documents
4. Submit proof of language proficiency where required by the host programme
5. Submit before your country's convocatoria deadline and await AMEXCID's selection outcome
