Danish Government Scholarships (at University of Copenhagen)

Overview

Funded by the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science and administered by individual universities, these scholarships give a limited number of highly talented non-EU/EEA master's students a full or partial tuition waiver, sometimes combined with a living-cost grant. At the University of Copenhagen, eligible applicants are considered automatically — there is no separate application.

Eligibility

• Citizen of a country outside the EU, EEA, or Switzerland
• Admitted to a master's degree programme at a participating Danish university
• Hold (or be eligible for) a time-limited Danish residence permit for study
• Not eligible for funding under Denmark's State Educational Grant and Loan Scheme (SU)
• Awarded automatically based on academic merit — number of awards varies by faculty each year and is very limited

Application Deadline

15 January each year, aligned with the standard Master's programme application deadline for September intake (some faculties have used later internal deadlines in past cycles) Always confirm exact dates on the official site before planning your application, since deadlines shift year to year.

How to Apply

1. Apply for an eligible University of Copenhagen Master's (MA/MSc) programme as a non-EU/EEA applicant
2. No separate scholarship application is needed — eligible applicants are automatically considered
3. Submit all standard admission documents by the 15 January deadline
4. Await your faculty's scholarship allocation decision alongside your admission result
5. Respond to any scholarship offer within the given deadline
