Eligibility
- Enrolled at a foreign university (home institution) at the time of application
- Meet the specific variant's country and degree-level eligibility (varies by programme)
- Planning a study or research stay at an Austrian university or university of applied sciences
- Application submitted through the OeAD online application system
- Some variants are restricted to applicants from specific eligible countries
Application Deadline
1 February each year, 23:59 CET, for stays in the following academic year (application window opens the preceding October) Always confirm exact dates on the official site before planning your application, since deadlines shift year to year.
How to Apply
- Identify the correct Ernst Mach Grant variant for your situation (Worldwide, ASEA-UNINET, or University of Applied Sciences track)
- Secure interest/agreement from a host institution or supervisor in Austria if required by that variant
- Register and apply online via the OeAD Scholarship Portal (grants.oead.at) between October and 1 February
- Upload all required certified documents before the deadline — late submissions are not accepted
- Await OeAD's selection decision
